Sometimes the easiest way to “write” is to talk. Use your phone’s voice memo app to speak your thoughts out loud. Just talk like you’re explaining the wedding day someone. Then clean it up later. You’d be amazed how much content you already have in your head.
Again, keep it conversational. You don’t need to sound like a magazine editor. Just write how you speak, especially when sharing stories, tips, or insights your clients will find helpful. It’s way more relatable and more engaging.
One of the biggest missed opportunities I see when it comes to wedding photographers blogging, is skipping the strategy and simply sharing a photo dump. Having client photos on your blog is a great idea. But simply posting them is not strategic. Instead of just sharing a gallery, use this simple framework to blog a session strategically. This is the core of successful blogging for wedding photographers – telling stories with SEO in mind.
Start with one or two sentences that pull people in. Mention the couple, the vibe of the day, or what made this wedding special.
Always mention the venue and list out the vendors. Bonus points if you add the location! Venue, vendor, and city names are commonly searched phrases. Adding these to your blog posts helps with local SEO.
Share your client’s story. Start with how they met, what their wedding day vision looked like, and how they chose their venue, decor, etc. This adds emotional connection and keyword variety.
